Comedy Refresher Workshop

Need to Brush off the Cobwebs and Get Back On Stage?

If you’re feeling the itch to return to comedy, sharpen your writing, or rebuild your performance confidence, the Comedy Refresher Workshop is the perfect place to start. Whether you’ve taken a break, lost your mojo, or simply want to level up before hitting the circuit again, this one-day workshop will help you reconnect with your comedy voice and rediscover the fun of performing.

This workshop is designed for comedians who have completed a beginners comedy course (with any provider) and already have a few gigs under their belt. It’s a friendly, supportive space to get back into the flow, try new ideas, and recharge your creativity with like-minded performers.

Reconnect With Comedy, From Anywhere

You can join the Comedy Refresher in person or live online, making it accessible whether you’re in Brighton or tuning in from further afield. Expect laughter, learning, structure, guidance, and the motivation you need to relight the spark.

You’ll also have opportunities for comedy gigs, promoter introductions, and guidance on running your own comedy nights. The session includes time to reflect on where you are in your comedy journey, what’s working well, and what could be improved to help you stand out on the circuit.

What You’ll Work On

You’re welcome to bring material to perform on the day, or you can write fresh ideas during the workshop. We’ll explore how to refine your writing, structure a solid set, and improve delivery, timing, pacing, and stage presence.

You’ll learn how to:

• write sharper material and edit effectively
• improve stage confidence and delivery
• stand out in a crowded comedy scene
• book longer gigs and progress through the circuit
• get started with paid gigs
• raise your profile
• analyse your set with a more professional eye
• grow new material consistently
• hold yourself accountable with clear checks and goals

Expect writing exercises, performing, constructive feedback, and shared resources on competitions, gong shows, open mics, and pro nights across the South Coast and beyond.

It’s also a brilliant chance to have a laugh with Brighton Comedy Course graduates, meet new people, and enjoy a social afterwards.

What They Say About the Comedy Refresher

“It’s accelerated my progression from 5-minute spots on open mic nights to 10-minute paid spots on pro nights. It’s also helped me make it through the Gong night, comedy competitions, and achieve paid MC gigs. For a developing comedian, it’s so many things. Louise’s input, advice and exercises as a seasoned pro is obviously invaluable. It’s a place to try new material and receive constructive feedback from Louise and the other comedians. There’s a real team vibe to help each other get better, find gigs, edit videos, organise comedy nights, motivate each other and, most importantly, have fun. I highly recommend it.”
Keefy Jewell

“This is the third course I’ve done with Louise, and I cannot recommend it enough. The sessions have been extremely useful, not just for trying out new material and gaining invaluable feedback about structure, delivery and performance, but also for discovering new gig opportunities. By sharing info, we’ve been introduced to competitions and nights across the South Coast and London. It’s an ideal way to gain stage time, build confidence, develop new material and strengthen your set. Definitely worth it.”
