The creative writing course runs twice a year, as does the creative writing taster workshops. The courses fill fast, so if you want to write, don’t procrastinate, book your place.
Over the six week course we will look at the basics of character, plot and dialogue. We will discover how to produce a character, bring them to life and make them memorable. We will also look at how to plot fiction looking at methods of planning, mind maps, story boards, and chapter breakdowns. There will be a number of writing exercises where you will have the opportunity to experiment with character and plot in different forms of writing; short stories, flash fiction and as part of a novel. Week 5 & 6 will be an introduction to writing a novel.

“This was a really worthwhile course. There were a lot of practical writing exercises which were great for trying out the new techniques and styles that we learned about. We were always challenged to stretch ourselves and be brave, but the atmosphere was always friendly and comfortable, which really encouraged us to just write on instinct and not be afraid of making mistakes. I picked up some really useful tips along the way, and since the course finished I’ve even had two of my homework pieces accepted for publication in online literary journals. A great course for building confidence and improving your skills!” Tom Marcantonio 2017
