The Intermediate Comedy Course

Intermediate Comedy Course – Build Confidence, Sharpen Your Set, and Start Gigging

You’ve got your first laughs. Now it’s time to build momentum.

The Intermediate Comedy Course is for those who’ve completed the Beginners Course or already performed a few gigs and want to move up a gear. This eight-week course focuses on shaping a tight, confident set, gaining gig experience, and learning how to book and promote yourself on the circuit.

If you’re ready to turn comedy from a hobby into a regular pursuit, this is where it happens.

What You’ll Learn

  • Develop and polish your material into a confident 5–7-minute set
  • Strengthen your writing through targeted exercises and feedback
  • Learn how to find, book, and secure gigs using real industry contacts
  • Build confidence through multiple performance opportunities
  • Handle tough gigs and tricky audiences
  • Market yourself effectively with practical guidance on building your comedian’s profile and social media
  • Learn and practice crowd work
  • Gain insight into running your own gig and networking with promoters
  • Create action plans and set achievable comedy goals with built-in accountability

There’ll be regular writing and performing opportunities, practical feedback, and insight into how to raise your profile. You’ll assess what’s working in your set, refine your style, and gain the confidence to stand out to audiences and promoters alike.

About the Workshops

Each workshop focuses on a different aspect of stand-up—writing, delivery, timing, booking gigs, and building your presence. You’ll also receive pre-work and tasks between sessions to help you progress and stay accountable.

There will be group outings to live gigs for analysis and inspiration, along with advice on securing better spots and expanding your set. With expert guidance, structured feedback, and hands-on support, you’ll see measurable improvement week by week.

Performance and Gig Experience

We’ll use our industry contacts to help you secure real gigs during the course. You’ll also perform at the graduation show, where local promoters are invited to spot new talent. Expect plenty of stage time, encouragement, and constructive critique.

Questions? Answered!

Is graduating from the Intermediate a guarantee of getting on the Advanced Course?
Not automatically, but if you show commitment and progress, a place may be offered.

Will this help me get gigs?
Yes. You’ll receive practical advice, introductions to promoters, and gig slots during and after the course.

Will it be the same group as my Beginners Course?
Some familiar faces may return, along with new students from other cohorts — a great opportunity to build new connections and strengthen existing ones.

Is there a live gig to watch and analyse?
Yes. Around week three or four, we’ll attend a professional comedy night and break down what makes it work.

What if I need to miss a week?
Regular attendance is important, as each week builds on the last. You can miss up to two classes, and we’ll provide homework, class summaries, and handouts to keep you on track. If you’ll miss more than that, it’s best to join a later course so you’re fully prepared for the graduation gig.

Is it OK if I completed a Beginners Comedy Course elsewhere?
Yes, that’s fine — as long as you understand the basics of stand-up and have some gigging experience.

Will I perform during the course?
Yes. Most students perform two to three gigs during the course — it’s optional but strongly encouraged.

Spaces are limited, and the Intermediate Course always sells out quickly. Secure your place now and take the leap into stand-up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘I can’t recommend the Intermediate Course enough. It gave me the structure and accountability I needed to actually get out there and gig. Louise pushes you in all the right ways – her feedback is honest, funny, and bang on. The mix of writing, performance, and industry insight was spot on. By the end, I’d tightened my set, booked real gigs, and felt like part of the comedy community. If you’re serious about improving, this course is a must.’
Keefy Jewell – Professional comedian, competition winner including British Comedian of the Year

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘The course really helped me bridge that awkward gap between learning the basics and feeling confident on stage. Each week built on the last, and Louise’s experience from the circuit made everything feel relevant and practical. I started with a five-minute set that felt shaky and finished with seven minutes that I’m proud of. The promoter introductions were a brilliant bonus. It’s professional but fun, and I left buzzing to do more gigs.’
